For a Tier 1 supplier managing a shared electric vehicle platform across multiple OEM brands, we conducted a comprehensive Product Safety Assessment and consultancy aligned with ISO 26262.
Project Overview
We ran safety scanns on documentation to identify findings, anomalies, and potential blockers. The project covered various vehicle functions, including turning assistance, collision avoidance (blind spot monitoring, RCTA), intelligent parking assist, radar sensors, dashcam, driver monitoring systems, active suspension, OTA updates, and high voltage charge.
Approach / Methodology
We combine hands-on coaching, independent assessments, and structured methodologies. Our approach emphasizes early identification of risks, traceable documentation, and alignment with both product and organizational goals.
Project: ISO 26262 Safety Assessment for AD/ADAS Systems (Tier 1 Domain Integrator – OEM Owned)
Challenge / Problem Statement The client faced issues with uncontrolled products in the field, damaging brand reputation, while preparing for an industrial ramp-up of embedded systems for mobility.
Managing safety documentation and identify anomalies early to avoid costly delays
Assessing functional safety for various vehicle systems and sensor platforms
Providing clear, evidence-based recommendations for the acceptance or rejection of safety goals
Operating within a complex multi-brand OEM environment with high system integration requirements
Key Achievements
Delivered clear and structured reporting, praised by project stakeholders for documentation quality and ease of use.
Assisted in risk mitigation and readiness for ISO 26262 compliance.
Provided actionable insights to improve engineering processes across multiple OEM integrations.
Methodology / Process / Action Taken
1. Early Detection & Documentation Review
Execution of safety scanners on safety documentation to identify findings, anomalies, risks, and blockers early in the development process
Structuring feedback loops to address issues before they escalate.
2. Comprehensive Safety Assessment
Assessment of ISO 26262 compliance for various AD/ADAS systems including: turn assist, collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), intelligent park assist (IPAS), radar sensors (long/medium/nano-range), dashcams, driver monitoring systems, active suspension, OTA updates, time synchronization, and high-voltage charging systems.
Verification of functional safety evidence at the system and component level.
3. Reporting & Recommendation Delivery
Documentation of findings and anomalies in a detailed, evidence-backed format.
Preparation of safety assessment reports with clear recommendations for acceptance, conditional acceptance, or rejection.
Support for project teams in implementing corrective measures to meet acceptance criteria.
